about

Released in 2008, Peasant's first label released album consisted of two sides/halves. The first half was recorded with "The Cobbs" (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Illinois) on 2" tape in their PA studio. The second half was done by Damien DeRose in his own studio also in PA. Several tracks from the album were featured on hit TV shows including Bones, The United States of Tara and others and the album received heaps of praise from all over the media.

“What becomes so beautifully clear in listening to Derose sing - in that clear mountain stream, weepy-voiced way of his - is that none of his characters and none of us are ever rid of any of the people that we've shared the dark or a kiss with.” –Daytrotter

Peasant’s first two official releases came out on Paper Garden Records between 2008 and 2010. In the last two years, his music was featured on CBS, ABC, Showtime, and MTV shows including Bones, The United States of Tara, Kyle XY and Private Practice as well as being used by Apple, Blackberry, and Starbucks. The early positive response to Peasant’s work was not limited to licensing. He toured Europe and the US extensively, opening for Cursive, Deer Tick, Albert Hammond Jr., Steve Earle, Javelin, Rocky Votolato, Horse Feathers and a number of other great artists.
